LMS + TMS for NGOs
Your Funder Wants Attendance Records. Your LMS Only Sees the Online Half.
SimpliTrain is a training management system (TMS) for nonprofits and NGOs, with a built-in learning management system (LMS). Field workshops, volunteer onboarding, staff safeguarding training, train-the-trainer cohorts: all of it scheduled and recorded in one place, across every office and every partner organization. So a program lead isn’t rebuilding an attendance sheet from a photo of a paper register the week a grant report is due.

Every Site, One Schedule
Run Workshops Across Field Offices Without Losing Track of Who Delivered What.
Two sites, one trainer, the same week. SimpliTrain catches that before the flights are booked, because facilitators, venues and cohorts live in the same calendar as the sessions. A two-day workshop in a district office, a refresher in the capital, and the same curriculum running in four languages across three countries all show up in one view, so a country director isn’t reconciling three regional spreadsheets to answer a question about next month.
Attendance That Survives the Field
Capture Sign-In and Issue Certificates From a Phone, Offline, at the Training Site.
Field training doesn’t fail at delivery. It fails three weeks later, when someone tries to turn a paper register and a WhatsApp photo into a report. Facilitators mark attendance in SimpliTrain from a phone at the venue, with no signal required, and record sync when the device reconnects. Certificates issue automatically from that attendance, so a participant leaves with proof and your program record closes the same day.
Grant Reports Don't Wait for a Good Connection
Pull a Funder-Ready Report by Grant Period, Site, and Cohort in Under 60 Seconds.
Institutional funders count output indicators: number of people trained, disaggregated by site and by sex, per reporting period, with the session date and the facilitator attached. A completion percentage doesn’t answer that question. SimpliTrain reports the way the logframe asks, covering in-person and online delivery in one export, so the numbers in your quarterly return come out of the system rather than out of a spreadsheet someone maintains by hand between other jobs.
Your Staff, Your Volunteers, Their Staff
Train Partner Organizations' Teams in the Same System as Your Own.
Capacity-building programs train other people’s staff, which is where most systems give up: every partner needs its own cohorts and its own reporting, and you need the total. SimpliTrain keeps partner organizations separate while rolling everything up centrally, so you can hand one partner their completion records and still show a funder the network-wide number. Safeguarding refreshers and volunteer onboarding run in the same place as the partner cohorts.

Most Systems Store Course Completions.
SimpliTrain Proves What Happened in the Field.
A standard LMS records that someone finished an online module. Funder reporting asks who attended a workshop, where, on what date, and how many of them there were. Here’s where the two approaches come apart.
| What You Need | Standard LMS or Spreadsheets |
Unified Platform |
|---|---|---|
| Session attendance and headcount | Paper registers, photos | Captured on-site, synced automatically |
| Multi-country and multi-site scheduling | Conflicts & gaps | One calendar across offices |
| Certificates for workshop participants | Manual, weeks later | Auto-issued from attendance |
| Funder and grant reporting | Days of manual prep | One export by grant period and site |
| Train-the-trainer and partner networks | Separate spreadsheets | Per-organization records, central rollup |
| Blended in-person and online records | Two systems, two reports | One record per participant |
| Offline delivery in low-connectivity sites | Course caching only, no attendance capture | Attendance and delivery, syncs on reconnect |
| Multi-language training delivery | Manual or limited | Built in |
| Volunteer and staff compliance training | Separate tool | Same system |
| Implementation | Months of setup & IT load | Live in under 2 weeks. No developer needed. |

Proven Results in Aviation Training.
That’s how many new maintenance technicians global aviation needs over the next 20 years, and most MROs can’t train them fast enough.
“Our senior techs were spending more hours on paperwork than on the aircraft. Now a new hire’s authorization status is one click away.”

Four bases. One dashboard. Zero flagged audits.
“We used to find out a certificate had expired the week it lapsed. Now we see it 90 days out, from one screen, across every base.”

FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions
1. What should a nonprofit look for in an LMS?
For head-office staff training, an LMS needs course delivery, completion tracking, and compliance reporting. For field programs it needs more: session scheduling across sites, attendance capture that works offline, certificates issued from attendance, and reporting by grant period rather than by learner. Most platforms marketed to nonprofits cover the first list only.
2. Does our organization need an LMS or a training management system?
If your training is mostly self-paced online modules for head-office staff, an LMS is enough. If you run workshops in the field, cohort programs, or train-the-trainer across partner organizations, an LMS records only the online portion. Attendance, facilitators, venues, and session-level reporting all sit outside it. SimpliTrain covers both, which is why funder reports come out complete.
3. Can SimpliTrain track attendance for in-person workshops in the field?
Yes. Facilitators mark attendance on a phone at the venue, including with no connectivity, and records sync when the device reconnects. Certificates issue automatically from attendance, so participants leave with proof and the program record closes the same day.
4. Can we manage training across multiple country offices and partner organizations?
Yes. Each office or partner organization gets its own cohorts and facilitators, while your central team keeps one view across the network. Reporting works at either level: one partner’s completions, or the network-wide headcount a funder asked for.
5. How does reporting work for institutional funders?
Reports are built around the training session, which is the unit funders count. Filter by grant period, site, cohort, date, or facilitator and export sessions delivered, participants trained, and certificates issued, covering in-person and online delivery together.
6. Does SimpliTrain work in low-connectivity locations?
Yes. Course access and attendance capture both work offline on mobile devices and sync when a connection returns. Nothing is lost if a site has no signal for the two days of a workshop.
7. Can we train volunteers, staff, and beneficiaries in the same system?
Yes. Volunteer onboarding, staff compliance training such as safeguarding and data protection, partner capacity building, and community workshops all run in one platform, each with its own enrolment rules and reporting.
8. Does SimpliTrain integrate with the systems we already use?
Participant and staff records stay in sync, so nobody re-enters the same person in two places.
9. How is SimpliTrain priced, and how long does implementation take?
Most organizations are live in under two weeks with no developer. Pricing scales with active learners rather than total staff or beneficiary numbers, and nonprofit rates are available.
